My younger brother is going into the Air Force this fall. Yes, the gay one – he’s the only one I have. Yesterday he received a certified letter in the mail from his recruitment office saying that there was something wrong with his physical results and that he needed to come in and discuss it with the doctor that had examined him since it could be serious and was of a personal nature.
My mother found out about it, and I sat there as she discussed it with my grandmother.
“It’s of a personal nature.” she said, eyes flashing maliciously.
“Do you think that they know he’s like that?” my grandmother questioned back. “I mean can they tell looking back there?”
“I’m sure they can,” my mom answered. “They can tell when a girl has had sex and everything.”
“Well, he’s out there doing that stuff. It might be H.I.V.” whispered my grandmother.
“Could be, I wouldn’t be surprised.” said my mom, rolling her eyes and crossing her arms.
“OH MY GOOOOOODD.” I moaned, and walked out.

I am proud to announce that my soldier husband recently told me that the biggest change he’d experienced as a result of marrying me was becoming truly okay with other people’s homosexuality. Back in the day, he would have outed a gay subordinate, ending his/her military career, but didn’t even consider it when such a situation came up recently. I’m very proud of him.

Dude. First off military doesn’t even really CARE anymore. You might get an asshole recruiter or something who has their own personal agenda, but it’s no longer a rule. Not even the don’t ask, don’t tell thing. They changed that. So, whether you are homosexual, bisexual, heterosexual – they mostly (as a whole) don’t care. Not saying you won’t encounter jackasses in the military, but that’s life and that’s their own issues they need to sort through.

Ok, anal sex in moderation is, according to a few medical sites, good for anal health. This is a muscle, not a piece of saranwrap. The docs can’t really tell anything about a person’s sexual orientation, besides, recruiters have quotas. No way in hell is a recruiter bringing down a poolee to meps that he think won’t clear. All they look for in processing is that you aren’t diseased, can lift your own feet, etc.. oh, and the duck walk. I think they do that just to fuck with a bunch of dudes in their underwear. Bastards.
Actually your mom and grandma are both misinformed-unless there is signifigant bruising and/or tearing, a doctor cannot tell whether a guy OR a girl is sexually active. I am glad your brother has you because with other family like that, his life must be hell. And hwile I hate to cast aspersions on anyone’s family, that fucking sucks.
