"Train up a child in the way he should go…"

by Maria on May 22, 2008

in Mothering, The Bella

Tuesday, in the toy store, Bella and her father were playing knights with some foam swords. She had on a matching helmet and he kept knocking it off, taking advantage of his far superior height. She complained that it wasn’t fair for him to do that. He continued, laughing manically. I told her what to say to get him to stop.

And to my quasi-embarrassment she yelled – loud as all hell, in that sweet whiny voice, with it echoing throughout the store and causing looks from every direction:

“Daddy! I don’t like that shit!”

That’s my girl.

Nothing is funnier to me than a child with a potty mouth.  Well, it’s only funny when it’s someone else’s kid, of course.

My darling son learned the word Jackass whilst strolling around IKEA one evening.  I didn’t even bother to pretend  being horrified.  Your girls sound awesome!!!
